The spurtle is a Scottish porridge stirrer. It can be used to stir juice or cram waste down the garbage disposal. Scrambling eggs and stirring all kinds of batter are other great uses for the spurtle.
Each spurtle is unique but they generally are about 3/4 inch at the largest diameter and between 12 and 13 inches long. I make spurtles from many domestic woods such as big leaf maple, birch, walnut, oak, cherry, or alder.
